The story of the Johner's

Written By: Samuel Hope

Matt Johner and his brothers hail from Saskatoon, where they kicked off their musical journey with their debut performance at Sas Polytech during a student welcoming party. Building on this early success, they soon held their first headlining show at the Capitol in Saskatoon, marking an important career milestone.

Matt frequently travelled the highways while installing internet throughout Saskatchewan. One day, he noticed a billboard that said, “Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, Driving Under the Influence Under Arrest.” This experience ignited his creativity, leading him to write a song titled D.U.I. The heart of D.U.I delved into the notion of being transformed by the deep love of a woman, driving under her influence.

“Wonder Woman” ignited with a captivating guitar riff in 2020. Matt had made great progress by writing half of the track, but he encountered some challenges along the way. To overcome this, he reached out to his older brother, Luc, seeking his support to enhance the lyrics and take the song to the next level. Wonder Woman is an exceptional track that deserves to shine. Inspired by a vision akin to Imagine Dragons, Matt’s creative direction brought this powerful anthem to life.

Matt and his brothers formed a band called the Johner Boys. While their songs often carried a gentle touch, their live performances ignited the stage with powerful energy.

Amazingly, these talented artists are still on the rise! I eagerly anticipate collaborating with these legends again soon!
